Day 6 - Denia

BEST DAY EVER!!! First off today it was a high 82 degrees, ammaazziinnggg!!! So we had class in the morning and theenn after a delicious lunch we headed to to the beach! :)

It was nice and sunny so we got some great tans! Andre introduced me to the bartender and she had some awesome drinks that helped keep us cool!

After a couple hours at the beach we went back to the running of the bulls again! This time was even crazier!! We saw this girl get absolutely trampled by one and sadly she had to leave in an ambulancia!!

We read in the newspaper she survived, but is in critical condition, it was seriously insane to be RIGHT THERE and see that! We aren't sure why she was in the arena because it is usually all guys, but here is a picture of one of the bulls and what the scene looks like.

After we left we went to downtown and there were a bunch of vendors set up selling purses, scarf, jewelry and lots of other stuff! I got a really cute pair of earrings! Then I saw these four little girls selling little rings and stuff and they were too cute so I bought one of their rings and I LOVE it, because is lights up! :)
After shopping we stopped at a little place that had tables outside for dinner, it was so yummy! I had and omelette with garlic and shrimp ( dad you would have loved it!)

Looking for fame in Spain,

Rachel :)

We got dressed and went to downtown for the coolest part of the night..... THE RUNNING OF THE BULLS! I have tons of photos so here are some good ones! :)

Here is the bull just waiting to attack! PS- I saw him attack this guy and then he walked past me all bloody and his shirt ripped apart! CRRAAZZYYYY!!!

Another toro and the insane people who were attempting to run it into the ocean!

After the bulls we all had dinner at this yummy chinese place! :) Then we just hung around all the festivities downtown. It was fabuloso!! :)

Day 4 - Denia

Hello mis amigos!! So first day of classes today and they went pretty well :) After class I had a siesta and then lunch! We then went into town and shopped at some of the cute little boutiques, but I haven't bought anything yet...yet being the key word hahaha! Downtown they had some stuff for the Festival going on and big groups of people were singing all down the streets!

Then we went to the supermercado which is called "Consume" annddd these little penny pinchers make your pay for a buggy and for your bags! Any way I just got some snacks and since the fruit here is awesome I got some peaches and cherries and you had to weigh them yourself which I thought was weird, but kinda fun and OH you had to wear a glove when you touch the fruit!

We just finished dinner and nnooowww I am going to go do mi tarea and then hit the sack because I am exhausted!! Thanks for reading, there is so much more to come!!! Valencia, Barcelona, y mas mas mas!

Day 3 - Madrid to Denia

After that long night and awaking at 8am to get on a bus to Madrid we visited at another museum, but I left a little early to go to this little candy store around the corner to get some goodies for the 6 hour trip to Denia. YUMMYY treats and Heather they had BIIGGG Sour Patch Kids!

We then headed to Denia and I slept literally the whoollee way there! Arriving at our residencia my roomies Lauren and Jessica moved into to our room and we have such a BEAUTIFUL view!

We then had dinner and then headed into downtown where they have a festival going on all week so it is fabuloso! Tuesday they have the running of the bulls so we are going to see that! We just walked around and got of course some helado! :) Sarah they even have Frozen Yogurt places here you would love it! Here is a picture of me and my roomies downtown!

Tomorrow are our first day of classes so I hope I'm readdyyy! :)

Day 2 - Madrid ***Special night update!

Hola friends! So if you read my Day 2 Madrid post I left you on the note that I could be going out that night into town to see the Stadium and then dannccinngg, welllll..... the night didn't go exactly as planned to say the least! Here is the story and a few pictures of what happened!

So while in Madrid we actually stayed in a small suburb about 45 mins away called Alcobendas, so to get into town that night we took the underground Metro. It was super fun to ride and muucchhh cleaner than a NY subway! If you know me at all I DO NOT know anything about reading maps lol! So our savior of the night Amber navigated us and we got from Alcobendas to Madrid easy as pie! It came out RIGHT in front of the Stadium.... sadly it was already closed :( but don't worry Ro I still got some pictures for you!

Instead outside of the stadium there was a Spanish -German Festival going on, it was AWESOME! We stuck around and had the most delicious meal (ps. heather they had delicious SANGRIA so I thought of you)!

While at the festival eating a table of 4 Spaniards asked us to take a picture of them. We (Me, Amber, Erin, Simmons, Jared and Ben) of course did and then began talking with them and they loved our attempts to speak to them in espanol! They told us we should go to this awesome club Las Animas that was in apart of Madrid called Goya. They were still eating so we said we would meet them there and tthiisss is when the REAL adventure began......

This club was about FORTY block away so we wanted  to take the Metro. Buttt...by this time it was nearing midnight and we had heard the Metro would be closed. We went back to where we came out of the Metro and sure enough it was closed sooooo... we began walking (ps-i wore heels) until we realized the metro was still open just the smaller entrances were closed. We got on the Metro and made it to the are we were told this INFAMOUS Las Animas was. Once there we began asking locals where this place was and after an hour of walking practically all of Madrid we got there! Our "new friends" met up with us, but when we tried to go into this fancy place they said some of the people (not me of course) didn't meet the dress code. After all that work we didn't even get to go! We decided since it was 2 am we should head back to Alcobendas since it was now an hour or more away and made the walk to the entrance of the Metro.

We went to the Metro and got our tickets and they said there was only ONE train left! We began ruunnniinngg (keep in mind this is me running lol) to try and make it! We got there and realized that one train was nnoott going where we needed to go! :(

We decided a taxi was out of the question because it would cost like 15+ Euros a person since we needed a 2 taxis for the 6 of us and we were so far away. We ( and when I say we I mean I made friends with the security guy in the Metro and he gave us directions to get to these "special" buses that would take us all the way to Alcobendas.

Long story short after toonnss of walking and WAY to much public transportation for this Kardashian loving girl we made it back at 3:30am and my feet were DEAD!

Day 2 - Madrid

We went out in Madrid today! We first had lunch at a cute little bakery and then we went to El Prado - The Fine Arts Museum where we saw Goya, Velasquez, Rembrandt  and much more! Erin and I got lost quuiitteee a bit but we found our way around! Lunch was amazing at a little outside cafe where we had the most hilarious waiter! I had quesos y jamon ( cheeses and ham) yyuummyy! We then exlpored more of Madrid and I bought once again some ice cream and a lovely Baylor Green scarf for only 2 Euros! :) I am now relaxing (siesta time) from walking like 8,893,220 miles and then some of us will be headed back into downtown Madrid to go to the Soccer Stadium (for you Ro) and then to have some dinner and theennn dancing! :)

Here is a picture from today, me and some of the girls outside El Prado!

Day 1 - Madrid

So I departed from DFW today and got there rigghhtt on time because of my lovely friends Heather Brock and Austin Jones! They were the last to see me off and Heather sang "goodbye forever" to me (ask and she will perform it for you as well!) while Austin carried the lovely Vera Bradley bag my beautiful sister Sarah let me borrow!

The plane ride was 9 loonngg hours, but I survived thanks to Lauren, my awesome plane buddy! We arrived at 9:45 Madrid time and straight to The Royal Palace of Madrid. Then I went and had lunch at a small place with a few friends and OF COURSE found and ice cream place! You all know me ;)

We headed back had dinner at a lovely "Tapas" place, I thought of you Ro ;) The rest of the evening me walked around town exploring and attempting to speak spanish to the locals haha!
